Rolex “HS01” Project X Submariner
Ask any hardcore vintage Rolex Submariner collector what their ultimate grail is, and you’ll hear it time and time again: the Big Crown. And who could blame them? It’s the watch that defined an era, exudes old-school Bond energy, and stands as a symbol of raw tool-watch heritage. But let’s be real—very few of us will ever have the chance to own, or even handle, an original Big Crown in the wild. These are the unicorns of vintage Rolex collecting—coveted, untouchable, and forever iconic.
Enter the HS01, born in 2013 through the tasteful minds of Philipp Stahl of Rolex Passion Report and Daniel Bourne of Vintage DB. Their vision? To reimagine the Big Crown for the modern collector—and they absolutely nailed it. Starting with a no-date Submariner 114060, they transformed it into a love letter to vintage, with only 60 individually numbered pieces ever made. The details are precise: a red triangle on the ceramic bezel, beveled case edges, faux-patina lume, a white seconds hand, and most notably—the removal of crown guards and the fitting of a genuine NOS 8mm Rolex Big Crown and tube. Every decision was a deliberate nod to the legends of the past, wrapped in the durability of a modern Rolex. The HS01 isn’t just an homage—it’s the Sub that should have been. And for those lucky enough to snag one, it’s the best of both worlds.
This incredible example comes to us straight from its original owner, who’s cherished it for over a decade—and it shows. Carefully worn and beautifully preserved, the watch remains in exceptional condition and comes as a full, complete set, including every original document it was born with. It's running strong and ready for its next chapter. Whether you're strapping it on for daily wear or adding it to a top-tier collection, this is a Big Crown built to be enjoyed—anywhere, anytime.
